Attacks from the Right

By the mid-2000s, ACORN’s rapid growth and internal tensions left ACORN vulnerable to intensifying Right-wing harassment. In 2009, a targeted attack by two undercover Right-wing journalists unfolded on the national stage threatened to destroy ACORN. And by 2010, ACORN as it existed ceased to exist, with many of its organizers opening local successor organizations around the country to carry on its legacy.
