Seth Borgos
Seth Borgos was recruited to ACORN in 1976 to help run an ACORN-sponsored monthly newspaper covering Arkansas politics, and stayed through the early 1980s, doing research, helping to run the 1978-80 People’s Platform process, and then putting together a traveling exhibit on the history of social justice movements called “This Mighty Dream”. In the interview, Seth talks about the ambition and debates that characterized ACORN’s member-driven process to develop a national platform. He also discusses the value of the “This Mighty Dream” project, which visited ACORN offices across the country and helped educate members about the antecedents of their work with ACORN. Finally, Seth discusses the impact of his time at ACORN on his subsequent career, as a social justice funder, and then on the staff of the Center for Community Change.
