America Canas came to work for ACORN is 2004. She ran the joint UFT/ACORN home daycare campaign, organizing from the ACORN side and supervised a staff of 60. She later was Field Director and worked on the ACORN bankruptsy filingy. In this interview, she discusses her experience running the daycare campaign along with the UFT to unionize 28,000 home daycare providers. She also talks about the canvass, the actions, and early challenges.
