Amelia Adams first learned about ACORN when she was in college and saw them featured in Spike Lee’s When the Leavees Broke. She was inspired by the work they did and would later go on to work for the organization in 2008, right before ACORN was targeted by the Right-wing in a sting operation. In this interview, reflects on the organizing lessons she learned at ACORN, the relationships she built with leadership and members, and what it meant to organize as a Black woman in the community she was from.
